A British schoolteacher has been arrested in Sudan accused of insulting Islam's Prophet, after she allowed her pupils to name a teddy bear Muhammad.
Colleagues of Gillian Gibbons, 54, from Liverpool, said she made an "innocent mistake" by letting the six and seven-year-olds choose the name.
Ms Gibbons was arrested after several parents made complaints.
The BBC has learned the charge could lead to six months in jail, 40 lashes or a fine.
I have nothing against Muslims, but the more extreme of them (like the ones who control places like Sudan and Saudi Arabia, and impose the fundamentalist Sharia law on people) are idiots. They, like extremists in any religion, make life generally bad for everyone.
I'd not blame this teacher and any and all aid workers and other foreign nationals in countries like this to simply leave and wash their hands of the place. If I had to take 40 lashes for some stupid bullshit like this, I guarantee I'd never set foot in the stinking hole again, and I'd go out of my way to tell the to piss off.
