Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton announced a $110 billion health care reform plan Monday that would require all Americans to have health insurance.
Clinton unveiled her "American Health Choices Plan," during a high-profile speech at a hospital in the key campaign state of Iowa, surrounded by supporters, American flags and campaign banners.
"Here in America people are dying because they couldn't get the care they needed when they were sick.
"I'm here today because I believe it is long past time that this nation had an answer," Clinton said. "I believe America is ready for change.
THIS is what our tax dollars should be going to...not getting thousands killed in a quagmire in Iraq. I'm more an Obama supporter than an Clinton supporter right now, but this is the type of leadership we need. Too long have the HMO's and big drug corporations held sway on health care. Often there just isn't coverage there when you need it, and health savings accounts simply will not cover the massive bills you get when something like cancer strikes.
But if we left it to the GOP, who thinks something like this is "socialist" and would rather not spend any tax money (unless it's on mistaken wars or bridges to Alaskan islands), we'd have a health plan that simply says "don't get sick".
Actually, that's pretty much what we have.
You go, Hillary!
